Horror Author Fred Wiehe

Welcome to horror novelist and creative writing instructor Fred Wiehe's news and updates page. Fred is a proud member of the Horror Writers Association. He is the author of the published short stories Trick or Treat: It's the Puppet People  and Trick or Troll. His novels include Strange Days, The Burning, Night Songs, and Starkville. His new collection of short stories Holiday Madness: 13 Dark Tales for Halloween, Christmas, and all Occasions is available now from Black Bed Sheet Books. His newest novel Aleric: Monster Hunter is represented by Brendan Deneen of Fine Print Literary Management. Fred also has a new non-fiction book, CREATIVE WRITING: Get Started Writing Fiction.

October 21, 2009 Fred will be on KKUP, 91.5FM 8am-9am. He will be joining host Jim McMillen on One from the Heart for a Halloween Preview Show. On the air, Fred will read The Halloween Box and Part 1 of Ghosts, Inc. These never before heard stories will also be in his new anthology, Holiday Madness: 13 Dark Tales for Halloween, Christmas, and All Occasions. This collection of short stories became available October 1, 2009.

October 28, 2009 Fred will be on KKUP, 91.5FM 8am-9am for his annual Halloween Show. He will be joining host Jim McMillen on One from the Heart. On the air, Fred will read Part 2 of his new Halloween story, Ghosts, Inc. October 31, 2009 (Halloween) Book Signing at Communication Academy (7337 Bollinger Road; Cupertino, CA 95014), 11am-12:45pm and 3pm-4:15pm. Fred teaches Creative Writing, Academic Writing, and SAT Writing & Reading to students ages 8-17 at this institution, so these two signing times will take place between his classes. UPDATES:

Fred has completed his new novel Aleric: Monster Hunter. Fred is represented by Brendan Deneen of Fine Print Literary Management in New York. Any interested publishers should contact Brendan at brendan@fineprintlit.com.

Fred is busy working on Zero Sin, an Aleric: Monster Hunter  novel.

 World Horror Convention 2006 San Francisco, CA

Fred Wiehe returned from the World Horror Convention 2006 in San Francisco, where he hob-knobbed with fellow horror authors, publishers, celebrities, and horror fans from around the world. On Saturday night, Fred took part in a panel discussion; "Where are the new masters of horror." Joining him were Paula Guran, Chesya Burke, John Everson, and Michael Laimo. SiliCon is a non-profit convention run by fans of science fiction, fantasy, and horror for fans of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Proceeds benefited the Diabtetes Society of Santa Clara Valley. Fred participated in Meet the Guests, he donated books to the charity auction, and he participated on 3 panels: A Shiver or a Splatter, Genre or Pigeonhole, and Horror Literature and Society.
